How I Spend My Class Time...

I completely forgot we even had a blog until I was sitting in my finance class and, being bored out of my mind, started dinking around on my computer. So that's what I am doing right now...sitting in my Public and Non-profit Finance class listening to my Waldo-in-a-suit professor talk about Command and Market economies. Shoot me.
Other than that, classes are great! My Abnormal Psych class is pretty legit. I mean, we watched a video about the history of treatments for the mentally ill. So sick. They were jamming long thick needle thingys through patient's eyeholes!! Human Biology...right up there with finance, except it's 3 hours LONG!
But my favorite class is my Sea Kayaking class. I feel so bad-a doing that. I'm hoping by the end of this class I'll have some muscles. This past Tuesday was our first time getting out on the water. We put our kayaks in at Provo river right by the Utah Lake State Park. We went up and down the river a few times practicing our different strokes (I'm pretty good at going backwards). Then we headed out to the actual lake. On the way out we saw a bunch of bums chilling out on the bank, some were fishing. One guy yelled us to "GET OUT OF WAY! HURRY UP!" because apparently we were in the way of his catching his dinner. Oops. When we actually got out to the lake (after paddling through giant tall grass) the waves were pretty rough from the wind. We paddled down part of the shore and by the time we turned around to go back my arms and hands were pretty much done. A couple times some big waves rocked my kayak and I was sure I was going to flip. I was worried because we hadn't quite learned yet how to flip ourselves back up...that's tomorrow!
And just to rub it in everyone's face...AGAIN...on Labor Day I got to attend the Blink182 reunion concert! WOOT WOOT! I know you guys are so jealous of me. Taking Back Sunday was one of the opening bands and they were AMAZING! The lead singer has gotten a little pudgy, though. But seriously...Blink was awesome. At the very end Travis Barker did a 10 minute drum solo. But the cool part, despite him being a legend in the drum world, was that he was strapped in his chair and his platform was attached to cables that raised the platform in the air, swaying him side to side, then it tilted him so far forward he was facing the ground. AND, the center of his platform was spinning him around. So the dude is killing it on the drums while spinning and swaying through the air!
So Friday we finally got out A/C fixed in our house. Saturday night, before Labor Day, it pretty much died. It stopped putting out cold air, so we turned it off for a few hours thinking it was frozen (in Utah, hahaha!), then we turned it back with no luck. So we called our manager Monday morning, after Sunday when the even the FAN stopped working on the A/C. So the guy can't come look at it until Wednesday...in the meantime I am dying of the heat and making a big fuss (my poor roomies). The guy comes and tells us it's out of freon (correct spelling?). The next day the air is STILL not cold. Come to find out our breaker for the A/C likes to trip...a LOT. So we have to keep an eye on it and if it keeps doing it then a lot of parts are going to have to be replaced. Fun.
Ok, so I need to wrap this up because my class is ending...haha. But how about them Cougars? YEAH!!! I'm stoked for the Florida State game this weekend!

Goodbye Utah, Hello Florida

It's been a long week and I wish I wouldn't have had to pack all the junk we own, but we did. And now we're on our way. (Let's just hope it all stays inside). We'll see you all soon!

Well, I thought since the rest of the family isn't doing much on here yet, I'd try to break some ice and post something about myself. Nothing too exciting though!

School started Monday and I can't say that I like it. My teachers are okay for the most part...except two! One likes to put students on the spot and I'm not the type who can handle too much attention. The other gets onto the class about every little thing. Such as: giggling, not raising your fist (but your hand) to use the bathroom, purses in your lap/desk, using pencil, using spiral notebooks, etc. The list is endless. I would switch to a different teacher but it's an honors class and she is the only one teaching it. So I'm stuck with her the rest of the year. Joy!

And then there's soccer. Lots of it, I guess. On Mondays, I have team practice. This past Monday, I was supposed to have goalkeeper training before practice, but one got cancelled and the other moved without my knowing. So I drove 20 minutes for nothing. Wednesday nights, I have goalkeeper training also (I have no idea how I'll work that out with church right before it). Which for some reason got cancelled. Once again, drove 20 minutes for nothing. I never find these things out before I leave home. But anyhoo, Thursday is a practice day too. Then Saturdays, I usually have a game. We've only had one so far and I got to play midfield part of the 1st half and goalie the 2nd half. It feels good to be back in the goal!
Other than school, soccer, and church, I don't have much else going on. Tay will be back soon with Dan. So that's something to look forward to! Otherwise, I'm just keepin' it real :)
With a tremendous amount of love,
Ashton
